Electricity in Aruba

Before you head out on your trip to Aruba, you may want to check to make sure the electronics you want to bring with you are adaptable to the island's electrical standards.

U.S. visitors will be happy to know that Aruba's electrical current is 110-120 volts AC (60 cycle), which is the same as the United States. This does not mean, however, that an adapter won't be necessary.  Some location do not have the three-prong outlets that many large electronics (such as laptops and hair dryers) require.   European visitors will also need to plan to bring adapters.

Many of the larger hotels may provide them, but supplies may be limited, so it is always a good idea to call ahead to the hotel and find out. Power blackouts are rarely a concern on Aruba, and when one does occur, it is usually short-lived. Most major hotels will have backup power, making blackouts even less of a concern to visitors, but it may be more of a consideration for visitors to smaller or more remote facilities.

Whatever type of power supply you have, it is always best to call ahead to make sure you don't need an adapter.  This will save you time, and perhaps even money, which you can then spend freely during your trip to Aruba.
